Material Handler Operator

We are currently recruiting for a Material Handler Operator for our client, based in Aberdeen.

The Material Handler Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient handling, movement, sorting, and processing of ferrous and non-ferrous metals within the recycling facility. The role involves operating mobile plant equipment, maintaining a safe working environment, and ensuring materials are processed in accordance with company procedures and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operate mobile plant equipment including material handlers, loading shovels, forklifts, and other machinery as authorised and trained.
Load, unload, sort, and move scrap metal materials throughout the site.
Assist with the inspection and identification of incoming and outgoing metal products.
Ensure materials are segregated and stored correctly to maximise operational efficiency and product value.
Conduct daily pre-start checks and routine inspections of machinery and equipment.
Report equipment defects, maintenance requirements, and safety concerns promptly.
Maintain accurate records of material movements and operational activities as required.
Support loading and unloading of customer and supplier vehicles.
Keep work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
Participate in toolbox talks, training programmes, and safety initiatives.
Assist with general yard duties as required.
